High Salary PG

Russell Westbrook-Oklahoma City Thunder (11,000): Westbrook and the Thunder will be looking to make a statement win as they host Curry and the Warriors. When the two teams played earlier this month, Westbrook had 55.75 fantasy points beating out Curry by 0.75 fantasy points. He hasn’t been quite as consistently exceptional as Curry lately, but he is coming off a 63-fantasy-point game against the Pelicans on Thursday when he dropped 44 points to go with one assists and four rebounds.  The matchup is a good one for him since the Warriors have allowed the ninth-most fantasy points to opposing PG on the season and more than other team in the NBA over their last five games.  The Warriors have been winning, but opposing PG have had good fantasy days against them lately.  Like in their last matchup, I think tonight’s fantasy points will end up very close to even, but if I was forced to choose just one star PG for my fantasy team tonight I would go with Westbrook given the Warriors defensive issues lately and the fact that the game is in OKC.  Both PG are extremely expensive, but they will probably deliver since points will be plentiful as these two super-powers square off.  ∗∗∗

Stephen Curry-Golden State Warriors (10,700): On the other side of tonight’s game, Curry has been absolutely transcendent on the Warriors current trip and posted a bananas 63, 64.75, and 76.25 fantasy points in his team’s three games in four nights earlier this week. Curry has at least 44 fantasy points in seven of his last nine games and he’s going to be in a good matchup against the Thunder who allowed him to post 55 fantasy points when the two teams met earlier this month. OKC has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing PG this season, and Curry will look to stay red-hot as he takes on the team that will be one of the biggest threats to the Warriors’ quest to repeating as NBA Champions. ∗∗∗

Damian Lillard-Portland Trail Blazers (9,600): Lillard continues to thrive in the shadows of his fellow-Western Conference PG’s, and going with him will have you almost 2K.  Lillard had five games in a row with 30+ points before finishing with just 23 on Thursday against Houston but adding six rebounds and seven assists to still total a solid 42 fantasy points. He has at least 42 fantasy points in eight straight, and he’ll look to continue his run of recent success as he faces the Bulls tonight who may be without Derrick Rose for the third straight game as well as missing backcourt defensive shutdown-option Jimmy Butler. It should be a good matchup for Lillard to succeed in since Chicago has given up the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing PG this season and have been struggling even more recently. Lillard isn’t as “sure” to go off as the other two elite PG’s but he can save you a chunk of change to spend elsewhere.∗∗∗

Jrue Holiday-New Orleans Pelicans (7,700): Holiday coming off the bench behind Norris Cole in New Orleans is both weird and confusing, but it doesn’t seem to hurt his fantasy value.  Holiday has scored at least 20 points in seven straight and has added enough assists, steals, and rebounds to get to at least 34 fantasy points in each of those games with four of them resulting in over 45 fantasy points. If you can get that kind of production tonight at this price point, Holiday could end up being a better way to spend your money than the elite options if you can deploy your savings wisely elsewhere.  Holiday is in a tasty matchup tonight against Minnesota who allows the third-most fantasy points to opposing PG. ∗∗∗∗

Mike Conley-Memphis Grizzlies (7,300): Conley played just 29 minutes last night against the Lakers finishing with 31.25 fantasy points on 17 points and seven assists.  He is in another great matchup tonight as he and the Grizzlies face the Suns in Phoenix.  The Suns have allowed the second-most fantasy points in the NBA to opposing PG, and Conley has definitely become the most potent force in the Grizzlies’ attack with the injury to Marc Gasol.  Conley has over 44 fantasy points in four of his last six games and has reached 40 fantasy points in two of his last four.  There is a risk that tonight’s game becomes non-competitive since the Suns have been getting blown out, but there should be plenty of points for the Grizzlies in order to make that happen, and Conley should be very involved in Memphis’s attack tonight. ∗∗∗∗
