2. player. 52. . AFC. South. Jacksonville Jaguars

Don’t be surprised to see the middling Jacksonville Jaguars ferociously attack 2016 NFL Free Agency. The Jaguars may have only been a 5-11 team in 2015, but their offense is close to being great and general manager David Caldwell has more money to use on free agents than anybody in the league.

Jacksonville will have over $70 million to use for luring prospective free agents to North Florida. The Jaguars were able to land the best available tight end of the market last year in Julius Thomas and could conceivably land at least two free agents of Thomas’ high-end caliber in 2016.

While the offense is on the rise, head coach Gus Bradley still needs the right pieces to transform his defense entering his fourth season with the team. Though he does have strong players in the front seven like Telvin Smith, Paul Posluszny, Sen’Derrick Marks, and No. 3 overall draft pick last year in Dante Fowler, Jr., Bradley needs guys to bolster his secondary for his defense to have a better chance at being competitive.

With the Jaguars certainly looking cornerback in the 2016 NFL Draft with their No. 5 selection, they should look to bring Kansas City Chiefs free safety Eric Berry to the Banks of the St. John’s River this free agency period.

By bringing in Berry, it would signify that the Jaguars are finally ready to contend. The AFC South has never really been anything special as a division. With more money than owner Shahid Khan could think about spending in free agency, Berry is a top priority target for the Jaguars defense. Nobody will be able to pay him more than Jacksonville. They could win any bidding war for any free agent this spring and that includes Berry.
