NHL Trade Rumors: New York Islanders expressing interest in P.A. Parenteau
The New York Islanders are having discussions with the Toronto Maple Leafs about forward P.A. Parenteau
The New York Islanders are looking to upgrade their team with reasonably priced acquisitions as they try to make a playoff push this season. One of the names that they have recently been having discussions about is former Islanders forward P.A. Parenteau, who currently plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Parenteau is a player who the Islanders are obviously familiar with, as he played for them from the 2010-11 season through the 2011-12 season. The Islanders could be looking for someone who has chemistry with center John Tavares. From 2010 to 2012, Parenteau spent well over half of his time on ice at even strength with Tavares. He would be an obvious fit on the Islanders first forward line, but Parenteau is the kind of player who can make a positive impact no matter where he is in the lineup.
Parenteau has 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points this season in 60 games for the Maple Leafs. 10 of his goals have come at even strength while six of them have come on the power play. He’d be a nice power play option for the Islanders because of that. 13 of his assists have come at even strength while three of them have come on the power play.
Parenteau should fetch the Islanders at least a second round pick considering that’s what the Calgary Flames got for Jiri Hudler and the Edmonton Oilers got a third rounder for Teddy Purcell.
