. AFC. South. Houston Texans. 5. player. 10

Outside of dynamic Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, the Houston Texans are rather mundane on offense for head coach Bill O’Brien entering the 2016 NFL season. While Houston did manage to win the AFC South in 2015, the Texans will need more than just a strong defense in a weak division to repeat in 2016.

Since quarterback concerns are still very much an issue in Houston despite other talented players on their roster, one way that the team can improve this upcoming season is to bring in a veteran wide receiver that can help the offense move the chains on crucial passing situations in the middle of the field. Though he’s getting up their in age, Roddy White formerly of the Atlanta Falcons could help the Texans in possession receiving in 2016.

Whether Brian Hoyer remains the starting quarterback for Texans in the long-term future is up in the air, it would be wise for O’Brien to bring in a veteran or two in the receiving corps to help offset the absence created by Andre Johnson’s departure from the organization a year ago.

If Houston keeps up their defensive tenacity and looks competent at times in the receiving game, there is a chance that the Texans can repeat as AFC South Champions, despite the return of a healthy Andrew Luck to the Indianapolis Colts or an ascending Jacksonville Jaguars team behind Blake Bortles.

Signing White as a free agent isn’t a huge or long-term solution for the Texans in the receiving corps, but he’ll bring a ton of experience as somewhat of an on-field coach for playmakers like Hopkins and Cecil Shorts, III in Houston in 2016.
