2. Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins are a team that have bigger needs than running back. They must upgrade their defense and should likely pursue some offensive line depth as well. While they have some exciting options in their backfield, they still ranked 30th among all NFL teams in rushing yards per attempt (3.7 yards per attempt). Arian Foster would be a great way to fix that.

Washington has gone away from their zone blocking scheme that they used to use all the time with Robert Griffin III as their quarterback. However, you can still see hints of that scheme. Foster has had a ton of success in zone blocking schemes. Not many teams run that scheme in today’s NFL, but Foster could definitely have success with the Redskins.

Foster would give the Redskins an every down back who would serve as an upgrade to Alfred Morris. Morris was a great running back for the Skins, but he lacked versatility. Foster is similar to Morris as a runner but unlike Morris, Foster is very versatile and can serve as a serious weapon as a receiver out of the backfield.

Arian Foster has averaged 4.5 yards per carry over his career. That’s almost a yard per carry more than what the Redskins had last season. He’d certainly be an upgrade over their current options.
