Okay, this one may admittedly be a long shot, but Chip Kelly has been known to not care about conventional norms and done his own thing. Kelly saw first hand what Victor Cruz could do in the season and a half he coached in the NFC East while Cruz played, so it wouldn’t be something foreign for the new 49ers head man. With Anquan Boldin entering his 14th season in the league in 2016, Cruz would get plenty of reps with Boldin’s career on the down turn, but wouldn’t have to worry about being the number one threat as long as Torrey Smith is still in the Bay Area.

When healthy, Cruz is a beast who could work with Smith and Boldin to create a trio at receiver that will allow the 49ers to compete in a division with two of the best secondaries in the league (Seattle and Arizona).

Even at half speed, Victor Cruz might be just enough to give defenses something else to look at on the field. Two questions to think about would be how he could work with Colin Kapernick in that offense and could he last in Kelly’s high tempo, fast paced attack this season.
