This would be a bit out of character for the Steelers organization, but Pittsburgh could potentially buy low on seven-year pro Percy Harvin and be able to offset the huge loss of Bryant in 2016.

Harvin has had an up and down NFL career to say the least. Many question if he’s totally committed to the game, but teams do tend to give him the benefit of the doubt because of the flashes of electrifying brilliance he can display with the ball in his hands.

He’s not the best locker room guy, but he does tend to shine the brightest when playing in huge games. Harvin helped the Seattle Seahawks win their first ever Lombardi Trophy in the 2013 NFL season with his great game in Super Bowl XLVIII against the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium.

Ideally, Haley would use Harvin in space as a slot receiver more than a vertical threat on the outside. Speed is Harvin’s biggest strength as a professional football player. The Steelers have otherwise great offensive continuity which should allow the offense to decide how to best integrate a player with a skill set like Harvin’s into the offense.

He won’t have the numbers of a Bryant, but Harvin could provide some of the explosiveness Bryant did in 2015 for the Steelers. Now that Harvin has clearly exited his prime as a professional, it’s not ludicrous to sign the 27-year-old wideout to a one-year deal to temporarily fill the hole created by Bryant’s poor decision making.
