8. No. 7 Wisconsin vs No. 6 Notre Dame

In a game that features two teams that needed shots in the final seconds of their Second Round games to advance to the Sweet 16, the Wisconsin Badgers will do battle with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Though the two programs are big names in college basketball in recent years—Wisconsin was in the title game last year, after all—this matchup doesn’t have a great deal of luster.

Yes, there are going to be some really talented players for both teams in this game. Zach Auguste is a fierce competitor in the Notre Dame frontcourt and Demetrious Jackson is absolutely explosive in the backcourt of the Fighting Irish. However, the Badgers have talent of their own in Sunday night’s hero in Bronson Koenig and in their big man Nigel Hayes. However, it’s the overall matchup presented between these two teams that causes it to come in last among the Sweet 16 matchups.

Given how both of these teams play and have no problem making things physical and a bit ugly, it has the potential to look like a slightly better version of the Pitt-Wisconsin game in the First Round. Even if it’s better, that game was so bad that slightly better is still not a game that you should go out of your way to watch.
