31. Josh McCown, Cleveland Browns

Another year, another dire quarterback situation for the Cleveland Browns.

The short-lived Johnny Manziel era came to an abrupt end when Cleveland cut the embattled quarterback earlier this month. That leaves the veteran McCown as the top option on Cleveland’s depth chart, at least for the time being.

McCown has spent 13 years in the NFL, primary as a backup, and came to Cleveland prior to the 2015 season. The 36-year old threw for over 2,000 yards and 12 touchdowns in eight games before going down with a broken collarbone.

While McCown’s numbers were fairly strong in those eight games, a 36-year-old quarterback with a lengthy injury list the past two years is only going to get worse, and is not someone Cleveland wants as their starter.

The Browns are aware of this of course, and are trying to add Griffin III in free agency. While Griffin III may not play at a staring-caliber level ever again, he at least has some upside, and would save Cleveland’s quarterback situation from being completely ugly.

There’s also the draft, where Cleveland could snag either Goff or Wentz at No. 2. Both could sit behind McCown for a year and develop, but the better move might be to wait a year when the quarterback draft class looks much stronger.

Either way, the Browns are stuck with one of the worst quarterback depth charts in the NFL, and won’t be competing for a playoff spot until that is resolved.
