Houston Texans. David Carr. 7. player. 10. . Quarterback

Like Couch in 1999, former Fresno State Bulldogs quarterback David Carr was subjected to a ridiculous amount of punishment being the franchise quarterback of an expansion team. Carr went No. 1 overall to the Texans in the 2002 NFL Draft and spent his entire NFL career either on his back or backing up a better player later in his career.

Carr would be the first franchise quarterback in Texans history, but his five years in the Space City were not great for either he or the team. Houston never won more than seven games in Carr’s tenure with the Texans (2002-06).

Three times with the Texans, Carr led the NFL in quarterback sacks (2002, 2004-05). In his five years with the Texans, Carr hit the turf a staggering 249 times! He was sacked on 14.6% of his dropbacks as a rookie and 13.8% of the time as in his fourth year in the league.

Carr would go on to be a backup quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, the San Francisco 49ers, and the New York Giants before hanging up the spikes in 2011 as a 33-year-old. While Carr is now carving out a respectable career with the NFL Network, he has to watch his younger brother Derek Carr becoming a star with the Oakland Raiders and wonder what could have been in Houston?
