High Salary PG
Stephen Curry-Golden State Warriors (10,400): Curry is the only PG over 10K tonight and only one of two players expected to play that comes in with a salary of five figures. He and the Warriors take on Boston tonight which isn’t a great matchup for him since Boston gives up the fewest fantasy points in the NBA to opposing PG. However, Curry did have a monster game against the C’s in his trip to the Garden earlier this season scoring 38 points to go with 11 boards, eight assists, and two steals in Golden State’s last game as an undefeated team. Curry has been good lately with at least 20 points in each of his last five and 49.9 fantasy points or more in four of his last eight. He’s a solid way to spend tonight, but he is an expensive investment to make.∗∗
John Wall-Washington Wizards (9,600): Wall is in a much better matchup than Curry but hasn’t shown the same top-shelf form that Curry always seems to deliver. Wall and the Wizards take on the Suns tonight who have allowed more fantasy points to opposing PG than any other team in the NBA this year. The Wizards can’t afford to slip up against Phoenix as they continue to chase a playoff spot and enter the day three games behind Indiana who currently holds the #8 in the Eastern Conference. Wall will likely play heavy minutes tonight as a result of the urgency for Washington, and he has been good lately with at least 40 fantasy points in eight of his last ten. He hasn’t been able to crack 50 fantasy points in any of his last five games since he’s hit a bit of a shooting slump, but he should bounce back tonight, and he definitely still gets plenty of chances in the Wizards offense which is built around him. ∗∗∗∗
Rajon Rondo-Sacramento Kings (7,700): Tongiht’s game isn’t a great matchup for Rondo since the Heat usually limit opposing PG fairly well, but I think he’ll be very involved in the Sacramento attack especially since DeMarcus Cousins will be out due to suspension. Rondo has passed out at least 11 assists in each of his last four games and has three double-doubles in that span. He has at least 31 fantasy points in four straight and he finished with 52.6 fantasy points when Cousins sat out last week against the T-Wolves on 25 points, 12 assists, and eight boards. With Goran Dragic recovering from illness, Rondo should be able to get his game going tonight, so I like him as a solid play at this price. ∗∗∗
Brandon Knight-Phoenix Suns (6,900): Knight didn’t have a great game in his return to Milwaukee on Wednesday with just 17.4 fantasy points on 17 points, two boards, two assists, and five turnovers. Knight should be able to bounce back and it could be in a big way as he comes back to Phoenix to face the defensively-suspect Wizards. Knight had at least 25 fantasy points in seven straight before Wednesday’s downer and hat at least 30 in four of his previous five. He has the potential to absolutely go off giving him a high ceiling and limited risk since he’s such a key part of everything the Suns do on every offensive possession. ∗∗∗∗
Shelvin Mack-Utah Jazz (6,000): Mack has been a great pickup for the Jazz who grabbed him from Atlanta at the trade deadline. Mack stepped right in as the Jazz starting PG and has produced at least 30 fantasy points in six of his last ten games after finishing with 33.7 fantasy points in 41 minutes on Wednesday against the Warriors. Mack had a bit of a lull in the middle of that ten-game stretch, but he should be able to produce a good line tonight at home against the Timberwolves who have allowed the third-most fantasy points in the NBA to opposing PG and the most of any team in The Association in their last five. Last week, Mack only had six points and six assists for 19.4 fantasy points against the T-Wolves, but I expect a much better result tonight.∗∗∗
