That time Batman slept with Superman’s mom

Conan O’Brien jokingly revealed his own theory on why the two heroes battled it out in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

(Spoilers for Batman v Superman, we suppose, though if you were going to go see it you probably would have by now. Everyone else did.)

Superhero moms don’t often get talked about, but they played a significant role in stopping the fight between Batman and Superman in the world’s most divisive comic book movie. Or at least their names did. Could a steamy relationship between one of those moms and the other hero have been the real reason for the brawl?

Of course not. It did, however, make for one of the funnier moments from the recent appearance of the cast of Batman v Superman on Conan. Toward the end of the show, which devoted its entire hour to the movie, host Conan O’Brien revealed what he called the “real reason” Batman and Superman came to blows: the fact that Batman had slept with Superman’s mom.

He wasn’t wrong, in a manner of speaking, producing evidence in the form of a still from Hollywoodland. That movie featured a relationship between Ben Affleck, who of course was Batman in Batman v Superman, and Diane Lane, who played Martha Kent. You see where Conan went with this …
