No. 4: Jamal Anderson

This one can be described as a “value” pick when the Falcons selected Jamal Anderson in the 7th round of the 1994 NFL Draft.

Anderson had a modest career at Utah which landed him just a 7th round flyer by the Falcons. He then put up modest numbers early on in his NFL career posting yardage totals of -1, 161, 1055 and 1002 before he broke out in 1998.

The 1998 season put Anderson and the Falcons on the map when they went 14-2 and won the NFC with a thrilling victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Anderson was a tank that season with 410 carries to lead the league. He tallied 1,846 yards in ’98 – far and away his best season as a pro.

The 1999 season wasn’t so kind as he tore his ACL in the second game of the season. Anderson bounced back for his fourth 1000-yard season in 2000, but eventually hung it up after the 2001 season.

Just the 1998 season is what lives forever in the hearts of Falcons fans, but Jamal Anderson also posted several other good seasons that made him worth much more than the 7th round pick he was.
