No. 2: Deion Sanders

The Atlanta Falcons were drifting into their third decade of mediocrity when they selected Deion Sanders out of Florida State as the 5th overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft.

Neon Deion was electrifying from day one for the Falcons. In five years with the team he intercepted 24 passes – three of which he returned for touchdowns – and put five touchdowns on the board as a punt and kick returner.

To make things even more interesting, Sanders joined the Atlanta Braves of MLB starting in 1991. From 1991-1993 he was playing for two of the city’s professional sports teams. He played in the World Series with the Braves in 1991 and 1992 in between games with the Falcons.

In 1991, he made his only playoff appearance with the Falcons and was on the field for the franchise’s first ever playoff win. He had an INT in that game.

After five years he moved on to the 49ers for a Superbowl winning year, then won another one the next season in Dallas.
