Atlanta Falcons: 5 worst NFL Draft picks of all time
No. 4: Peria Jerry
In 2009, the Falcons selected defensive tackle Peria Jerry out of Ole Miss with the 24th overall pick in the draft.
It didn’t take long to figure out he was a bust. He played in just two games as a rookie and did not make another start until his third year in the league.
After four years in Atlanta he amassed a grand total of two sacks, two passes defended and 26 tackles…in four years!
He did make a concentrated effort to be a better player in 2013 but it was a little too late. Jerry posted career numbers with 3.5 sacks, 21 tackles and a fumble recovery in 14 starts (48 percent of his career total).
Jerry’s career may be defined by some as never recovering from the knee surgery that ended his rookie season. While it’s true he had adversity, he was never able to live up to being anything near a first round pick.
He retired before the 2014 season.
