2016 NHL Draft Lottery: Odds of winning first overall pick
Which NHL teams have the best chance of winning the 2016 NHL Draft Lottery?
With the NHL regular season ending for all of the non-playoff teams, the official odds for winning the 2016 NHL Draft Lottery have been set. The 2016 NHL Draft Lottery will be held on April 30.
This year’s NHL Draft Lottery will contain some rules that are different from the ones that they have used in the past. The following are the three most important rules to remember.
- Each of the 14 non-playoff teams have a chance of having their ball drawn for the number one, number two, and number three overall picks.
- The three worst teams cannot pick any later than fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively.
- After the first three picks are drawn, the order will be determined by points and other tie breakers.
The team that wins the first overall pick will get the chance to draft Auston Matthews. This is a very deep draft, so picking anywhere in the top 10 means that you have a good chance of getting a great player.
