What channel will Game 1 of the Philadelphia Flyers versus Washington Capitals first round series of the 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs be on?

On Thursday, April 14 at 7:00 PM EST, the Washington Capitals begin their journey for the first Stanley Cup in franchise history as they welcome their division rival Philadelphia Flyers to town at the Verizon Center. The two sides have faced off four times in the playoffs with each team winning twice over the other. This will be the fifth meeting between the two sides and the stakes couldn’t be higher for both teams.

The Capitals, led by stalwart goaltender Braden Holtby, star forward Alex Ovechkin, centers Evgeny Kuznetsov and Nicklas Backstrom, and defenseman John Carlson, finished the season as the best team in the NHL with a 56-18-8 record, good for 120 points. They were second in the NHL in goals scored (248) and allowed the second fewest goals (191). Ovechkin led them in goals with 50 while Kuznetsov led the team in points with 77.

Philadelphia will be coming into the Stanley Cup playoffs with mourning hearts as their former chairman, the late and great Ed Snider, recently passed away. The guys in orange are led by forward Wayne Simmons, center Claude Giroux, underrated goaltender Steve Mason, and rookie sensation defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere. Philly finished the season with a 41-27-14 record, good for 96 points. Simmons led the Flyers in goals with 32 while Giroux led them in points with 67.

Fans can view the game on NBC Sports Network. Puck drop is expected to occur at around 7:00 PM EST.
