Arizona Cardinals – Andre Wadsworth (No. 3 pick, 1998)

Wadsworth was the other massive bust from the 1998 NFL Draft. We will dive into the more famous 1998 bust later in this post (hello, San Diego), but Wadsworth definitely did not work out the way Arizona wanted him to as a top-three pick.

The former Florida State defensive end was an immense physical talent, but the production just never translated to the NFL. Wadsworth had a highly publicized holdout before playing a single professional game, and when he arrived, he produced only eight sacks in 36 career games for the Cardinals.

To be fair, Wadsworth just could not stay on the field due to injury. It is basically unthinkable that a player with his pedigree would be completely out of the league after three seasons, but that is what happened to Wadsworth after appearing in only 20 combined games in 1999 and 2000.

Who was the next pick in the 1998 NFL Draft? Well, that makes this even more brutal. It was reigning Heisman Trophy winner and future Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive back Charles Woodson, who would have looked fantastic in red.

Yikes.
