5. Martin Perez-Texas Rangers (3.2%)

Perez got knocked around in his last outing, but I think he can bounce back tonight against the Yankees as he goes for his first win of the season.  Perez has a ton or potential but he’s gotten off to a slow start to the season.

He enters tonight’s start 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA with just 11 strikeouts in 24 innings.  However, there are a few bright spots.  He head turned in three quality starts to star the season allowing three earned runs or fewer and pitching at least six innings.  He did give up five runs in 5.2 innings in his last start which is why his ERA jumped to 4.50.  The main reason he hasn’t had a win yet is that he hasn’t gotten much run support.

Last night, run support wasn’t an issue for the Rangers who scored double-digit runs behind A.J. Griffin. Texas should be able to get some runs on the board tonight as well as they take on CC Sabathia who comes into the start 1-1 with a 5.28 ERA.  Perez is high risk given his last start, but it’s a start he could get a win in if he turns in a quality start.
