4. Chris Bassitt-Oakland Athletics (3.2%)

Bassitt was knocked around in his last start which came North of the border against the hard-hitting Blue Jays.  He allowed six runs on nine hits including a pair of homers in his five innings and took a loss in his first decision of the year.

However, Bassitt had been excellent in his two previous starts and actually entered the game in Toronto with a respectable 2.79 ERA before it ballooned to 4.44.  In each his two previous starts, Bassit has gone seven innings allowing a total of two earned runs on eight hits.   He doesn’t pick up a ton of strikeouts (just 18 in 24.1 innings), but he had been good enough before his last outing to give him a good shot at turning in a solid start this afternoon against the Tigers.

Bassitt will be opposed today by Anibal Sanchez who comes into his start today with a 7.00 ERA after allowing 12 runs in 7.1 innings over his last two starts. It won’t be an easy task to face the Tigers’ lineup, but Bassitt should get enough run support to pick up his first win of the season if he can put together a quality start.
