NFC North

Chicago Bears

Kyle Long, OL (Option Accepted) – Howie’s son has gone from being a college baseball pitcher who dropped out of school to a football star that will be getting paid by the Bears for likely a long time after the fifth year of this deal has come and gone, to go along with his move to guard.

Detroit Lions

Ziggy Ansah, DE (Option Accepted) – As the price for a quality pass rusher continues to get higher and higher during the wonderful world of free agency, being able to keep one of the best young ends in the game for $12.7 million in 2017 is beyond a no-brainer if you are the Lions.

Green Bay Packers

Datone Jones, LB (No Decison) – If you want to judge by the past regarding how the Packers have handled the fifth year option, Jones will be a blue to explore the NFL as a free agent following this season.

Minnesota Vikings

Sharrif Floyd, DT (Option Accepted), Xavier Rhodes, CB (Option Accepted) and Cordarrelle Patterson, WR (Option Declined) – The men in purple are keeping two of the key young pieces to their defense that won the NFC North last year, while putting an end to a failed experiment on offense with a receiver who couldn’t live up to the hype.
