No. 5 – Ryan Kelly, Center

When the Indianapolis Colts entered this past offseason, the team realized that it needed to protect its franchise passer Andrew Luck. In order to do so, the team upgraded the offensive line during free agency. Additionally, the Colts used their first round pick this year to draft Ryan Kelly.

Coming out of the University of Alabama, Kelly had experience going up against elite SEC defenders. While playing in the SEC, Kelly honed his talents by playing schools such as Texas A&M, Florida, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State.

During his stint at Alabama, Kelly learned how to have success on the gridiron. It is widely known that Alabama players learn how to win, because their football team is always considered a contender. Kelly’s last season at Alabama saw the school win the College Football Playoff, which featured clutch wins over Michigan State and Clemson.

Kelly looks to be a rookie that will make an immense impact on his team. The Colts should be a Super Bowl contender as long as Andrew Luck is standing up. Kelly will join the Colts as an elite run blocker. While the Colts strength is passing the football, Kelly is an above average pass protector.

It also worth considering that Kelly will be a good weapon against the improved defenses that are in the AFC South. The Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Houston Texans all got stronger on defense. It will be Kelly’s responsibility to ensure that the Colts have open passing and running lanes.

In conclusion, Kelly is rookie that is ready to start. He does not have to be amazing for the Colts to have a better season this year, than last.
