Was the 2015 MLB season a fluke for the Houston Astros? How are they this bad this early in the 2016 MLB season. Houston finished in fifth place in the American League last year and beat the New York Yankees in the 2015 American League Wild Card Game only to lose to the eventual 2015 World Series Champion Kansas City Royals in the American League Division Series.

Through 29 games, the Astros find themselves in unthinkable last place in the American League West at 10-19. While the Astros have the players on their team capable of righting the ship in the second half, perhaps they could use a spark that an elite player like Trout could provide?

The only thing though is would the Angels be willing to deal their best player to their newest rival in the American League West in Houston? Probably not, but Houston could offer Los Angeles quite a lot in return and Trout could play for a winner in Houston as early as next year, maybe August if the Astros can climb out of their current predicament.

Houston currently boasts a top five farm system and has five players on MLB.com’s Top 100 Prospects: shortstop Alex Bregman (No. 19), first baseman A.J. Reed (No. 36), right-handed pitcher Francis Martes (No. 37), outfielder Kyle Tucker (No. 70), and outfielder Daz Cameron (No. 71).

The Astros would have to give a ton of their best prospects to Los Angeles to pry Trout away from their division rival, but if anybody can entice the Angels out of the American League West, it’s the Astros.
