5. The Lakers deserve it after what took place this past season

Just seven seasons ago, the Lakers were celebrating their second straight NBA title and their fifth in the last 11 seasons. Now, the Lakers are a laughing stock for the rest of the league for their lack of success on the court and all the drama off of it.

Not long after the start of the 2015-16 season, news broke that the team’s biggest name, Kobe Bryant, was going to call it quits after the season. The only highlight last year was the nightly going away party the the Mamba would receive in whatever city they were playing in.

After that, the insane incident involving D’Angelo Russell taping conversations with teammate Nick Young talking about Young’s infidelity with other women while dating singer Iggy Azalea was enough to set the social media on fire with what was going on inside the Lakers’ locker room.

The team has suffered enough of late and deserves something good to go in their direction. There is no guarantee that things will immediately turn around if they get the pick, but after this past season they deserve a shot.
