4. The Luke Walton era deserves a fresh start

For fans of the Lakers, the Byron Scott administration has thankfully come to an end after two awful seasons with a combined 38 wins. In the place of one for Lakers star comes another former Laker who bought home several titles in current Golden State Warriors assistant coach Luke Walton.

Just like the fans and the players, Walton deserves a reward for actually volunteering to come down and take control of the dumpster fire playing 41 times a year at Staples Center. Whether that is Ben Simmons, Buddy Hield or any other top prospect, Walton should be able to start the season with some hope and promise before everything goes up in flames.

Walton’s style of play that he will be bringing in needs some help, as he is replacing a coaching spot that included Steph Curry and Klay Thompson for D’Angelo Russell and a cast of characters. Even with the top pick, not much is going to change in Lakers Land during the 2016-17 season, but it would be nice to at least plan for a future with the team with a player who might become the new face of it.
