3. They gave up on The Process!

Roughly three-quarters of the way through what is best known as The Process, former general manager Sam Hinkie gave up on his hyper-analytical, hyper-tanking rebuilding process by resigning his post.

What seemed to have transpired was that the Philadelphia front office had been making several moves to take power back from Hinkie and undermine what he was trying to do in rebuilding their team. Obviously, these decisions made by Hinkie and his staff were great in theory in a vacuum, but frankly to painful to endure for a fourth and fifth year.

It all started when ownership forced Hinkie to start speaking with the media around Christmas 2015. The 76ers hired Mike D’Antoni and Jerry Colangelo in prominent roles within the organization. Once Hinkie left on his own accord, the 76ers hired former Phoenix Suns and Toronto Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo as Hinkie’s replacement.

It would have been interesting to see Philadelphia see The Process all the way through, but pulling the plug three-quarters of the way through makes the previous two and a half to three seasons feel like a waste of time for hardcore hoops fan in Philadelphia that deserve anything better than what they were subjected to.

If Philadelphia remained committed to The Process of Hinkie’s creation, it would be easier to stomach the 76ers finagling their way to the No. 1 overall pick. Now it just seems like the team doesn’t know what it’s really doing and could very well botch this No. 1 selection that they don’t deserve.
