5. Sign-and-Trade with Grizzlies for Mike Conley

Despite the tremendous promise that Ish Smith showed for the 76ers last season after they signed him, there’s still a chance that Smith isn’t capable of being as good as he was last season with a good team around him and when he’s not asked to lead an awful assembly of players. As such, the Sixers might instead be looking for an upgrade at the position and there just so happens to be one of the most underrated point guards in the league in Mike Conley.

What Conley is going to do this offseason as he enters free agency is largely a mystery. On one hand, there’s a contingency that believes that he’s never going to leave Memphis because he’s loyal to the organization. On the other hand, there’s a chance he and the Grizzlies are both ready to begin a new chapter.

If the latter is actually the case, the 76ers would be quite wise to try and lure Conley away. To make sure the Grizzlies aren’t left high-and-dry, though, it’d likely have to be a sign-and-trade and the Sixers could send the No. 1 overall pick for Conley and other compensation. However, the point guard would be at the heart of the deal and make things super interesting going forward for Philly.
