The St. Louis Blues needed an extraordinary effort in Game 4 and that’s exactly what they got as they beat the San Jose Sharks 6-3 to tie the series at two games.

3. 120. 6. 99. Final

The St. Louis Blues promised a much better effort in Game 4 than they showed in Games two and three. They were a team of their word as they came out and dominated the Sharks 6-3 to tie the Western Conference Finals at two games a piece as the series goes back to St. Louis for Game 5. St. Louis played arguably their best game since Game 7 against the Stars as they were deliberate and precise with all of their moves and looked extremely dominant.

Troy Brouwer got the scoring started for the Blues with a first period power play goal. Jori Lehtera scored a first period goal to make it 2-0. The Blues then got both of their second period goals from Kyle Brodziak, including one shorthanded goal. Sharks goaltender Martin Jones got chased after that fourth goal and was replaced by James Reimer.

San Jose got a goal from their captain Joe Pavelski to make the score 4-1. Brouwer immediately responded with his second goal of the game to make it 5-1. The Sharks would make it 5-2 thanks to Chris Tierney. Alex Pietrangelo scored an empty net goal and Melker Karlsson scored for the Sharks to make the final score 6-3. The Blues needed a great effort in Game 4 and they got it.

Three stars

There were several strong candidates for the first star, but Kyle Brodziak deserves it for putting the game on ice after scoring two goals in the second period, including one huge shorthanded goal that made it 3-0. St. Louis was able to take the crowd out of the game thanks to him.

Robby Fabbri had two assists in the first period, nearly added a goal in the first period, and was generally excellent whenever he was on the ice. Fabbri has been the most productive rookie forward in the playoffs since Brad Marchand in 2011.

Troy Brouwer scored two goals, including the opening goal. He was also an important member of their penalty kill.
