Demetrius Jackson . 15. player. 73.
While the Denver Nuggets picked up their point guard of the future last season in Emmanuel Mudiay, they currently don’t have a serviceable backup. DJ Augustin will be a free agent this offseason and Jameer Nelson is already 34 years old. Notre Dame’s Demetrius Jackson fits the bill as a replacement, and given Mudiay’s ability to play off the ball at times, the two should be able to spend some time on the court together as well.

Jackson excelled as a distributor this year, replacing Jerian Grant as the Irish’s primary ball-handler. He raised his assist rate nearly a full 10 points to 25.9 percent while averaging 5.2 assists per 40 minutes for one of the nation’s most efficient offenses. The 6-2 guard is also a proficient outside shooting threat. He connected on 38.1 percent of his 349 three-point attempts over three seasons at Notre Dame, and although his numbers dipped slightly this year, they should improve as he shoulders less of the scoring load.

Jackson’s size raises some questions about how effective of a defender he can be at the next level, but he has elite athleticism and quickness that should help him level the playing field against the tougher competition he’ll face in the NBA.
