The Charlotte Hornets’ roster will likely experience rather significant turnover this offseason and one area they’ll need help filling it out will be at the wing position. Florida State’s Malik Beasley is an efficiency scorer at the shooting guard spot with the athleticism to develop into a plus defender at the next level.

As a freshman, Beasley averaged 20.9 points per 40 minutes in one of the nation’s toughest conferences. He attempted 36.1 percent of his total field goal attempts from behind the three-point arc and connected on a solid 38.7 percent of them. Despite being just 6-5 with a 6-7 wingspan, Beasley is comfortable attacking inside the paint. He converted an impressive 68.0 percent of his shots at the rim this year.

Defensively, he is a bit of a gambler and his 1.3 steals per 40 minutes don’t justify the chances that he takes. Given his size, he likely won’t be able to guard beyond the two guard spots at the next level, but if he can work on his fundamentals and stay disciplined, there’s little reason he can’t develop into a serviceable team defender. Beasley’s upside, though, is primarily as a scorer who can attack defenses off the dribble and knock down outside shots.

To read more about Malik Beasley, <a href=. SG. Florida State.
