Second Baseman

High-Salary Option: Daniel Murphy-Washington Nationals (4,100): Murphy went 0-3 last night against the White Sox but he still had a solid fantasy night since he walked, stole a base, and scored.  He is still hitting a blazing .379 on the season and has ten homers after hitting a three-run shot on Sunday in Cincinnati.  Murphy is the option that I’d invest in tonight as he continues to hit cleanup in a very solid lineup for the Nats. ∗∗

Mid-range Option: Brian Dozier-Minnesota Twins (3,300): Dozier was the hero last night with a two-run walkout home run to help the Twins past the Marlins.  He’s still hitting just .211 on the year but now has started the month 7-26 (.269) with a pair of homers, a pair of doubles, and seven RBI.  Tonight, he’ll face lefty Wei-Yin Chen who is his 6-16 (.375) against in his career with a home run.  He has hit southpaws well this season going 10-34 (.294) with a pair of his seven homers coming off them even though he has only 34 at-bats against lefties this year.  Dozier is a great play in a nice matchup as the Twins try to make it two in a row over the visiting Fish. ∗∗∗

Mid-range Option: Jurickson Profar-Texas Rangers (3,100): Profar had two more hits last night and is 11-27 (.407) this month with two doubles, a triple, and a home run.  He’ll try to keep things going tonight against Doug Fister who his is 2-3 against in his career.  Right now, the Rangers lineup is producing plenty of runs and Profar is producing very nice numbers fro the leadoff spot.

Mid-range Option: Brandon Phillips-Cincinnati Reds (3,100): Phillips is hot to start the month and has gone 8-21 with a pair of doubles to raise his average to .269 on the season. Phillips went 1-3 with a walk yesterday against the Cardinals and is 15-48 (.313) in his career against Jaime Garcia with four doubles and two homers to power him to 11 RBI against the St. Louis starter. 2B is stacked tonight, but Phillips is a really nice option to keep an eye on.

High-Value Option: Starlin Castro-New York Yankees (2,600):  Castro is the best cheap option at 2B coming off at least 20 fantasy points with multiple hits in three of his last four games.  He is 9-24 (.375) in the last week and has homered in each of the last two games.  Tonight, he’ll try to stay hot against Jered Weaver who is 0-5 against in his career.
