High Salary SP

Madison Bumgarner-San Francisco Giants (11,900): MadBum continues to dominate especially at home, but he has taken two no-deicsions in his last three starts.  He has allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his last 11 starts with at least five K’s in every start this season. He is an even more impressive 1.71 ERA with a 3-1 record in his seven starts at AT&T Park tonight where he’ll face the Brewers for the first time this season. Bumgarner is clearly the big-money arm to spend on tonight, and he should be able to get the win if he’s strong again tonight since he’ll be facing Matt Garza who will be making his 2016 debut for Milwaukee.

Jacob deGrom-New York Mets (9,800): DeGrom looked strong in his last outing against the Pirates who he’ll face again tonight. He did allow three runs in six innings in that start but managed to strike out nine while allowing six hits. He has at least seven K’s in each of his last four starts, and is always a better play at home (2-0, 2.03 ERA, 35 K’s in 31 IP) than on the road (1-2, 3.60 ERA, 21 K’s in 30 IP). He should get some good run support tonight although the Pirates have yet to announce who will get the start against him after they pushed back the struggling Juan Nicasio. He doesn’t cost quite as much as MadBum tonight, but he’s a very nice play at Citi Field as he tries to continue the Pirates recent slide.

Kenta Maeda-Los Angeles Dodgers (8,500): Maeda has found his groove in his last three starts after a rocky stretch through May.  He has dominated the Mets, Braves, and Rockies in his three outings allowing just a total of two earned runs in 18 innings.  He struck out a season-high nine against the Rockies in his last outing but took a tough-luck loss in a 1-0 defeat against the Rockies.  The loss dropped him to 5-4 on the year despite a respectable 2.70 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. Tonight, he’ll take on the D-Backs in Arizona. Even though he pitches at pitcher-friendly Dodger Stadium, his road splits are better than his home numbers as he has gone 3-0 with a 1.91 ERA away from LA. This will be his second start of the year against Arizona after he hurled six shutout innings against them in his second MLB start allowing five hits while striking out four.  The Dodgers will look to bounce back after losing last night to former-Dodger Zack Greinke, but they should find things much easier going tonight against Archie Bradley who comes into tonight’s outing with a 5.22 ERA.
