Catcher

High-Salary Option: Salvador Perez-Kansas City Royals (3,100): Perez has heated things up over the past week after a slow start to the month.  Over the last week, he is 11-24 (.458) with four homers in his last six games.  He has hit safely in each of his last seven games.  He’s very familiar with his opponent tonight as the Royals face their division rivals from Detroit.

Perez is 21-44 (.477) against Verlander in his career with seven doubles, two homers, and 13 RBI.  Based on matchup and current form, Perez is definitely someone to consider for tonight behind the plate. ∗∗∗∗∗

Mid-range Option: Russell Martin-Toronto Blue Jays (3,100): Martin has had a rough year at the plate batting just .209 for the season.  He has been better lately, though, with a .267 average this month and a .385 mark over the past week.  He has driven in a run in each of his last six games and will look to keep that streak going tonight against Andrew Nola and the Phils.∗∗

High-Value Option: Kurt Suzuki-Minnesota Twins (2,400): Suzuki and the Twins come home from their trip to LA to host CC Sabathia and the Yankees tonight.  Suzuki has been heating things up lately and is 11-34 (.324) so far this season with a double, a homer, and six RBI.

He’ll likely get the start tonight based on his good career history against Sabathia who he has hit well in the past going 9-36 (.250) with two doubles, ten RBI, and an impressive four home runs.
