Second Baseman

High-Salary Option: Dustin Pedroia-Boston Red Sox (3,800): Pedroia has been hitting the ball well all month entering tonight 18-52 (.346) with five doubles and two RBI in June.  He has multiple hits in three of his last five games and has continues to be an important part of the high-scoring Red Sox offense.

Against Tyler Wilson tonight, he’ll look to help the Red Sox take the third game and get the win in their three-game series against the O’s. He doesn’t have a ton of power potential, but he does bring a very nice average and a hot bat at this price.∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Brian Dozier-Minnesota Twins (3,400): Dozier had his eight-game hitting streak snapped last night in LA where he went 0-2 with a pair of walks. He’s definitely turned things around this month and comes into tonight’s game 17-53 (.321) in June with a pair of homers after hovering around .200 for April and May.

Dozier is hitting .325 on the season against lefties, though, with a .999 OPS. He’ll face another southpaw tonight in CC Sabathia who he has gone 3-10 against in the past with a double and four walks. ∗∗∗∗

High-Value Option: Devon Travis-Toronto Blue Jays (2,800): Travis started slow after returning from a shoulder injury, but he has picked up multiple hits in three straight games coming into tonight’s contest. He has gone 6-13 over those three games with a run scored, a double, and five RBI while picking his average up to .205.

At some point, Travis is expected to return to his leadoff spot which will cause his value to skyrocket, but he’s hitting well enough from the bottom of the order now to still merit consideration tonight in Philadelphia.∗∗
