5 reasons New York Knicks should trade for Derrick Rose
By Brad Weiss
5. Makes a James Dolan splash.
The Knicks need to do something this offseason to excite the fans, as the team has not been to the playoffs in the last three seasons. In fact, New York has finished no higher than 13th in the Eastern Conference in the last two years, and have really struggled since being the number two seed in the conference in the 2013 NBA Playoffs.
With the NBA Draft just around the corner, and with no draft picks, Knicks fans really do not have much to look forward to. The drama of finding a new head coach is behind them, and all has been quiet on the Knicks front in recent weeks.
Owner James Dolan recently renovated Madison Square Garden, so he is looking to put an elite team on the floor of his elite arena. Derrick Rose may not be an MVP-caliber player anymore, but he is a player than can make a substantial difference on this team. The Knicks have a solid frontcourt with Porzingis, Anthony, and center Robin Lopez, so a solid point guard could make all the difference.
The Garden never struggles for attendance, having finished in the top five in attendance the last three years despite not making the playoffs. Fans pack the stands regardless of record, so it would be great to reward the fans with a product better than the teams that have won a combined 46 games the last two seasons.
