NHL Trade Rumors: Three teams that should trade for Scott Hartnell
Scott Hartnell is reportedly open to a trade from the Columbus Blue Jackets. Here are three teams who should seriously consider trading for him.
The Columbus Blue Jackets did pretty well in the Scott Hartnell for R.J. Umberger trade. Umberger was mostly useless with the Philadelphia Flyers and wound up being bought out a few days ago. Meanwhile, Hartnell has proven to himself and to the rest of the league that he isn’t ready to hang up his skates yet.
In two seasons with the Blue Jackets, Hartnell has 109 points in 156 points. He has proven to be a very valuable asset on the power play, where he has scored 28 of those 109 points. More importantly, he proved that he is more than just a one trick pony as a power play specialist, a label that had been attached to him in Philadelphia.
If the Blue Jackets choose to move on from Hartnell, and the expansion draft might all but force them to do so, they can still get a pretty good package back because Hartnell is still a good player. With that said, smart teams are going to realize that the Blue Jackets almost have to trade him. That could put the sellers in a position of power.
