More likely than not, the Magic will look to move down in this Draft and add a veteran without giving away one of the players they consider part of their core.

This would be the best way to take a step forward and the conservative approach after the slow build. There is pressure to win but not necessarily to rush into winning by selling the farm. A small move like this one is much more realistic, although not nearly as ambitious.

Ilyasova’s contract could be valuable to help teams squeeze out some extra cap room if they are thinking big. The Pacers made some big changes this offseason (which the Magic have already benefitted from). They are looking to play at a faster pace.

That could lead Indiana to look for an upgrade at point guard and go away from a game manager like George Hill. They could draft a young point guard like Wade Baldwin or Demetrius Jackson or chase Mike Conley in free agency to pair with Paul George.

The Magic need a steady hand like George Hill, either to start for Elfrid Payton or to back him up or even play alongside him in certain lineups. Hill provides decent shooting and veteran experience.

That checks out plenty of boxes for the Magic.
