NBA Draft 2016: 5 players Minnesota Timberwolves need to target
1. Buddy Hield – Oklahoma
Remember when we talked about the Timberwolves wanting and/or needing a bit of an offensive spark on the perimeter? A big part of that is the fact that they don’t have a lethal outside shooter on their roster right now. Enter Buddy Hield out of Oklahoma, a player that lit the college basketball world on fire this past season and a player that many people view as the best shooter in the draft.
Hield’s exploits with the Sooners have been widely covered. The guard was an absolute force on a consistent basis as he could score from anywhere on the floor. Perhaps his biggest asset, though, is the fact that he was a lethal shooter on the perimeter, shooting at over a 45 percent clip from that area in his final year in Norman.
Again, Hield is another player that’s not a perfect prospect. There are questions about whether or not he’ll be able to effectively defend his position in the NBA and there are questions about whether or not he’ll ever develop elite playmaking ability as a passer. However, he does have the potential to be an elite scoring threat and he’s the type of player that could fit right into everything going on in Minnesota as the team continues to grow together.
