Second Baseman

High-Salary Option: Jose Altuve-Houston Astros (4,000): Altuve has hit safely in all but one of his 13 games and has a very healthy OBP of .483 this month boosting his OPS to 1.039 for June.  He has also hit very well against the Royals this season going 8-17 with two homers against them in a series earlier this season.  Tonight, he’ll face Edinson Volquez who he is 3-7 against in his career, so make Altuve your 2B target if you are going to spend big at this spot tonight.∗∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Dustin Pedroia-Boston Red Sox (3,900): Pedroia didn’t start on Monday against the White Sox, but he has looked good in his three games back since then collecting three straight 2-4 performances to raise his average to .309 on the season. He and the Sox are in Texas this weekend where runs should be plated in bunches between the two potent offenses. ∗∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Jonathan Schoop-Baltimore Orioles (3,600): Schoop is 11-25 (.440) over the last week with two doubles, two homers, an five RBI.  He has four multi-hit games in his last five contests and should be set up for more success tonight as he faces Matt Moore who he is 3-6 against in his career.∗∗∗∗

High Value Option: Starlin Castro-New York Yankees (3,000): Castro was the hero on Wednesday when he hit a walkout winner against the Rockies as part of his 3-5 game.  He is a solid 21-73 (.288) in June with three homers and seven RBI. Castro will take on lefty Tommy Milone and is 22-80 (.275) with three homers against southpaws this season.∗∗

High Value Option: Josh Harrison-Pittsburgh Pirates (2,300): Harrison is a cheap option if you have to save money at the position, and he’s getting regular time at the #2 spot in the Pirates lineup. He went 1-4 with a triple, RBI, and run scored yesterday. Before that solid game, he had been slumping badly, though, so proceed with caution tonight even though his matchup against the Dodgers is a pretty good one.
