5. Best player available

While everybody has their own opinion, Kris Dunn was considered by most to be the third-best prospect in this draft class only behind Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram. In fact, according to Adrian Worjnarowski of The Vertical, Dunn was the top player on Tom Thibodeau’s draft board.

Dunn is a special athlete with great play-making skills on the offensive end of the court. His outside shot is inconsistent and he turns over the ball too much, but Dunn’s ability to create shots for himself and teammates are top-notch.

Also, with that fantastic athleticism and elite-level length for a guard, Dunn is a fantastic perimeter defender who will undoubtedly make a mark on that side of the court.

As far as intangibles, Dunn is a natural-born leader who also shows a fantastic work ethic. He is an extremely smart and talented player who could become a fantastic starting point guard in the NBA.

I understand Wolves’ fans being hesitant since the point guard position is locked-down by Rubio, but teams who draft for need as opposed to best player available are foolish.

One of the premier players in this draft class, Dunn was the best player on the board when the Wolves went on the clock. That makes him the right pick.
