2. Trade possibilities

As soon as the Dunn pick was made, the NBA rumor mill really started to churn. Not only with the Wolves’ discussions with the Bulls and 76ers surrounding Dunn, but also with their interest in trading Rubio.

Rubio is a great offensive play-maker who also shows a ton of defensive ability. If the Wolves have actually made him available, there are a ton of teams that make sense. That being said, they are not going to trade him away without a proper return.

My best guess is that Rubio starts the season in Minnesota as their starting point guard. That being said, it will be easy to tell early on if him and Dunn together makes sense. If not, the Wolves will then have plenty of trade possibilities to improve their roster as a whole.

Whether it is now or during the season, I imagine that the Wolves will get a ton of interest in dangling Rubio. That may be their opportunity to grab an impact post player or outside shooter to add to the mix.

Also, I would not count out Dunn’s name continuing to pop up in trade discussions. There were clearly a lot of teams interested in him on draft night and I would not be surprised to see a strong offer for the rookie point guard to still come across Thibodeau’s desk.
