NBA Free Agency 2016: 5 best fits for Lance Stephenson
2. Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic have made some odd deals since the NBA trade deadline with their roster. First they shipped Tobias Harris to the Detroit Pistons and then they traded Victor Oladipo for Serge Ibaka at the NBA Draft.
Perhaps the Magic felt that those young players weren’t a fit for their roster and they wanted to bring in more veterans to their team. If that’s the case, the Magic should look to some veterans to put around their young players in free agency.
With the addition of Ibaka to the roster, the Magic are clearly looking to upgrade their defense and perhaps maybe add some more wins in a weaker Eastern Conference. If that’s the case, signing Lance Stephenson would make a lot of sense for them.
They’re in need of a shooting guard after the trade of Oladipo and Stephenson is a versatile guard that can play multiple positions on the floor. Add in the connection to head coach Frank Vogel and it makes sense on paper.
Stephenson had his best season in the NBA under Vogel and the Magic should certainly value that familiarity that he has with them because of their newest head coach.
