2. Miami Heat

When Pat Riley puts all of his championship rings on the table, free agents begin to listen. If there has been one thing that Riley has done well, and there are a lot of those things, it’s his ability to bring in veteran free agents and get them to buy into a vision of winning.

In Miami, Riley has brought three championships to the next organization and although the team is in a bit of a transition in the post-LeBron James years, the team has plenty of star power on the roster and if they can land that next superstar, then they could very well win the Eastern Conference.

They’re going to be a serious contender for Kevin Durant and when Riley throws all that gold on the table, it’s going to be hard for Durant to say no to one of the greatest architects in the history of professional sports.

Should they not land Durant, the Heat will surely try to get Al Horford. With the uncertainty of Chris Bosh returning and Hassan Whiteside likely to get a max from somewhere else, the Heat will need a big man they can rely on.

If Bosh is able to return, then the Heat would have one of the best front-courts in the league with him and Horford. He’s a very real possibility for the Heat and he’s the type of veteran that Riley loves.
