5. New York Knicks

The fact that rumors of Rondo heading to the New York Knicks are still circulating makes me laugh. The Knicks just acquired Derrick Rose via trade and this is another situation of neither guy wanting to come off the bench as a point guard.

New York has been a disappointing franchise over the past few years, but there seems to be a little light at the end of the tunnel in the form of Kristaps Porzingis to go along with Carmelo Anthony. The former was one of the most surprising rookies in the NBA last season and it could be argued that he’s the future of the franchise.

Rose, Carmelo and Porzingis make up a poor man’s ‘Big Three’ but the addition of Rondo wouldn’t do anything to help that. Rajon is looking for a situation in which he can start right away and lead the team for the entire season, but New York is Rose’s team now.

Another rumor has made rounds that the Brooklyn Nets are one of the leaders to land Rondo and that would likely be the better situation for him. You can’t knock Rondo to the Nets even though they don’t have much to brag about right now either, but free agency could do them some good.

Don’t get it twisted, though, the Knicks would be the absolute last place Rondo should sign — along with the four others on this list.
