5 possible landing spots for Jay Bruce
By Greg Patuto
Kansas City Royals
The reigning World Series champions have underachieved so far this season, going 41-36, and are six games behind the Indians. If they want to make a run for a repeat, they need to shake up their lineup.
The Royals lost key pieces of their World Series team, including Johnny Cueto and Ben Zobrist. They are currently playing Jarrod Dyson and Paulo Orlando in the outfield. If Bruce does not find himself in right field, he can serve as a designated hitter. Power-hitting lefty Kendrys Morales is off to an awful start, batting just .190 with five home runs.
The Royals have also talked about bringing in Nick Markakis over from Atlanta, but he is under contract for two more seasons. Markakis is batting .254 with two home runs and 41 RBI this season for the Braves. Bruce makes more sense for this team that is full of speed and lacks power.
Bruce can be a nice middle of the lineup guy for the Royals, who always seem to play better in August and September.
