Madison Bumgarner-San Francisco Giants (12,000): The Giants need a stopper, so it’s a good thing it’s Bumgarner’s turn in the rotation tonight as they look to avoid dropping their fourth in a row to the A’s.  Bumgarner has actually dropped his last two starts to move to 8-3 on the season, but he still has a sparkling 1.99 ERA and 1.02 WHIP coming into tonight’s start.

Bumgarner is usually a strong start at home, but his splits show he’s actually been stronger on the road this year.  He has yet to take on the A’s this season but picked up a win by allowing just one run in seven innings against them last year. Oakland doesn’t have a power-packed lineup, so if you decide to roll with an Ace at the top of your lineup, MadBum is the way to go tonight.∗∗∗∗

Carlos Carrasco-Cleveland Indians (10,100): I like Bumgarner better than Carrasco based on matchup, but Carrasco has been excellent lately.  He threw a four-hit, complete-game shutout in his last start while striking out seven.  He has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last three starts and ha struck out at least six in each of his last four outings. The only hesitancy in rolling with Carrasco tonight is that he is facing the Blue Jays in Toronto which is a tough matchup against a good lineup.∗∗

Chris Tillman-Baltimore Orioles (8,900): Tillman got knocked around by the Rays in his last outing, but the O’s rallied to win leaving him with a no-decision despite allowing six runs on ten hits in five innings.  He’ll look to bounce back tonight in the pitcher-friendly confines of SafeCo in Seattle against the Mariners.

On the season, Tillman is an impressive 10-1 with a solid 3.52 ERA. He has 88 K’s in his 94.2 innings, and he is holding opponents to a .236 average.  Earlier this year, he allowed two runs in 6.1 innings against the Mariners to get a win, and he’ll look to match or even exceed those numbers again tonight in a solid matchup in Seattle.
