NBA Free Agency 2016: 5 best fits for Dwight Howard
5. New York Knicks
The New York Knicks are a relevant franchise again after the acquisition of Derrick Rose. Now, Rose has to stay healthy of course and play good basketball, but the Knicks are making the moves to improve their roster and work toward putting a competitive team on the floor each night.
Rose, Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis is a good start for the Knicks and they’ll certainly try to woo Kevin Durant to New York. If they get an indication early that they aren’t going to get Durant, then the Knicks need to turn their attention to Dwight Howard.
Howard would provide elite rim protection for the Knicks and having him and Porzingis up front would give the Knicks some ungodly size. Add in Anthony and Rose and the Knicks would have some serious star power on their team.
New head coach Jeff Hornacek is a smart coach and when he’s not dealing with a bunch of malcontents like the Morris brothers, he’s fairly good at building chemistry and getting players to work together.
Howard would be a great fourth star on the team and they could fill in the gaps from there.
