4. Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets were one win away from reaching the semifinals in the Eastern Conference this past season. However, Dwyane Wade went off in Game 6 and the rest would be history for the Hornets.

Still, the team had yet another great year under head coach Steve Clifford and the team boasts some good talent on their roster. While they could lose some pieces in free agency from their roster, the Hornets like where they are heading and they should try to make some noise in free agency.

Before the trade deadline, it was rumored that the Hornets were looking into acquiring Dwight Howard. While the team has Al Jefferson on the roster, it was clear that they could use an upgrade at the center spot.

If the Hornets want to take the next step in the Eastern Conference, then they need to make a play for Howard. It might be hard if a star-studded team offers him a max deal, but the Hornets should at least give it a shot.

They’re a good team with a great chance to get better. They also stand to take a step back if they lose pieces and don’t end up replacing them either.
