1. Atlanta Hawks

Well, there might be one team that could be a surprise team in the running for Dwight Howard. ESPN’s Marc Stein reported that the Hawks were going to make a run at Howard, who is from the Atlanta area.

The Hawks currently have to decide what they’re going to do with free agent Al Horford, but should they lose Horford to free agency, they could choose to chase Howard and pair him up front with Paul Millsap.

According to Stein however, the Hawks are considering going after Howard to pair him with Horford, which would give them one of the more interesting front-courts in the NBA. It’s not quite obvious how they would use Millsap in that situation, but the guess would be as a big three, because he’s just too valuable to move.

It might be too much size, but the thought of all three of them could potentially be fantastic for Atlanta or cause a logjam that needs to be rectified with a trade. Still, if the Hawks can keep Horford, they should go all in on trying to sign Howard and give it their best shot at making something happen in the Eastern Conference.
