2. Nicolas Batum

Forced to make a snap judgment on what happens with Nicolas Batum in NBA free agency, the best guess would be that he’s returning to the Charlotte Hornets. The forward thrived last season under Steve Clifford and has expressed on numerous occasions that he had the best time of his career playing for the Hornets and even saying that he’d like to stay in Charlotte. However, that doesn’t mean that the Timberwolves wouldn’t be wise to try and add the veteran French forward in free agency.

Batum is another player on the wing that fits right into what the Timberwolves need to add in free agency. He’s a forward that offers a great deal of versatility on both ends of the floor as he can defend multiple positions, score from the perimeter, facilitate the offense from the wing, and attack the rim off of the dribble. He could be what Tayshaun Prince was for the Wolves only roughly 20 times better than the shell of Prince that suited up in Minnesota last year.

Again, it’s a long shot that the Timberwolves would be able to sign Batum as either the Hornets or the Dallas Mavericks seem like the two most likely destinations for him in free agency. However, the Wolves have the opportunity to at least make a run at players like Batum and they should undoubtedly do so.
